We are wrapping up our first season and it’s been great. Ben as my daughters vocal coach has been amazing. It’s not easy working with a moody 11 year old girl who doesn’t like to practice. Her band leaders are fantastic and Jagger at the front is always so helpful.
We won a week summer camp from School of Rock during a charity event, so going in, we did not know what to expect, but by the end of the week, our son was not only playing the drums, but he also performed during their summer camp finale and he had never sang in front of a crowd before! Granted, his skills at the drums were basic at best, it was awesome for us to discover that he really liked them and took to them so well as previously, the only musical instrument he has ever played is the violin. I am not a helicopter parent, so I do not know how the class was constructed, but he came home very happy each day with a full report of how cool it was and they obviously did something right because he was able to memorize all of the lyrics to All Star by Smash Mouth without our help.
They also offer weekly private sessions that also give the kids a chance to play at cool venues like Antone's, Moontower Saloon, and Come and Take It Live! which are all cool venues, particularly for a child. He is super excited to go back and we are just as excited to see how far he progresses in the program.
Our family has been taking classes with School of Rock at Southpark Meadows since January 2020, even through the pandemic via Zoom at times, and we couldn’t be happier with our experience. There are programs and classes for everyone, even adults, so don’t feel limited. The staff are what makes this place so great, and we’ve come to feel close to them. Best of all when taking classes at SOR you can choose to have the opportunity to play on-stage in a real performance before an audience at the end of the semester. All of the instructors are actively playing music in bands around town, so you get to learn the inside scoop of how to be a working musician, if that’s also your goal. Highly recommended!
Very happy to have our son (age 9) join SoR family with Guitar, he so motivated the highlight of his day is to come home from school to practice, and the highlight of his week is to attend his classes. So happy and proud to have seen is first performance on stage. It's just amazing to see the progress and confidence he's achieved in such a short period of time. Thank you School of Rock!! And thank you Nikko Vallejo for being such an amazing and inspiring teacher for him.
Awesome just awesome!!!! My kid used to take piano lessons with a teacher at home after a while he started to get bored so we gave the school of rock a try and he loves it!! He did the end of season show recently and it was great, he is taking a break now for traveling but he's going back and can't wait,.
